The Material Testing Department of the SLV Mannheim as a neutral institution and accredited according to DIN EN 17025 conducts examinations, expertises and failure analyses of materials. welding joints and components (ferrous and nonferrous metals, synthetic materials) for industry, craftmen's businesses and government authorities. For this purpose the SLV is equipped on all testing sectors with the most modern test gear and operational monitoring systems which are operated by qualified personell. Among the operational systems for the classical testing procedures like e.g., radiographic and ultrasonic testing, tensile and bend tests as well as macro and micro structural examinations, especially a scanning electron microscope (SEM) with energy dispersive X-ray micro analysis (EDX) and 2 radiographic test equipments for filmless radiography (with normal and microfocus X-ray tubes) must be mentioned. With this basis and the continous adaption to the fast progress in the development of material and joining technology, the material testing procedures of the SLV Mannheim will also in the future meet all exacting demands.
